Business Intelligence Specialist - Monroe, LA

The Business Intelligence Specialist provides support for business intelligence activities including development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of intelligence solutions. The BI Specialist will collaborate with the leadership and management teams to develop reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to understand reporting needs, design, test and create new reporting solutions and infrastructure including SQL queries, dashboards, and ETL (extract, transform, and load) applications designed to support the data warehouse.
  • Test and validate new reports for accuracy.
  • Analyze data using problem solving and analytical skills, correlate with business processes and assist management by developing solutions to business issues.
  • Write relational and multidimensional database queries.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and data analysis projects as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
  • Analyze tables in the company’s business system while working closely with software vendor to establish knowledge of data for accurate retrieval and use in developing reports, dashboards and analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills to translate reporting requests in order to accurately meet the actual information and deadline needs of users
  • Educate requestors as to appropriate and desirable parameters to ensure they get the information they need
  • Maintain existing BI solutions to ensure proper functionality after software upgrades
  • Gather feedback and monitor usage of various BI reports to assist management in assessing reporting solution effectiveness, and ensuring alignment of reporting solution with management goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, finance, accounting or a related field preferred
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of databases (SQL Server)
  • Experience/familiarity working with SQL stored procedures
  • Background from working with BI solutions or other analytics software a plus
  • Creative approach to troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Proven experience with SQL and advanced dataset topics including: performance tuning, partitioning, data warehousing, server maintenance
  • Proven track record in implementing data warehouse and BI solutions
  • Simple programming skills/background
  • General business understanding of financials, sales and supply chain management
  • Experience with TARGIT BI software a plus
  • Experience with CDK IntelliDealer Dealer Management System a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Access, Word & PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle detail oriented work while meeting schedules and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical users
